Abortion is Murder
I am glad Mitt Romney did not choose a running mate who is not pro-life. If Paul Ryan were not pro-life he would be called “pro-choice.” The opposite of being pro-life is being pro-death, being favor of the death of unborn human babies when that is the mother's wish.
Women who are in favor of abortions are called “feminists.” Is
being in favor of the death of unborn human beings feminine? Animal mothers always want to protect their babies. Are human mothers different?
One thing which probably has contributed much to the success of the abortion industry is the fact that unborn babies are called “fetuses.” People who perform abortions want pregnant women to think of their unborn babies as being globs of nuisance tissue. Abortion performers become wealthy at the expense of unborn human beings and their duped mothers. An abortion cannot be done without the uterus being damaged, and the possibility of successful subsequent pregnancies being less likely. Also, babies who are born to women whose previous babies were put to death before birth have the tendency to have severe brain damage because the uteruses were not in good condition.
God was very wise when He gave the Ten Commandments and said, “You shall not kill.”
Some Thoughts about Prayer
Some Facts About Prayer
The reason why it is necessary to pray is not that God is ignorant or that God is reluctant to help people. Prayer helps eliminate self-centeredness and causes compassion. Fruit of the Spirit is produced. Because Christians pray, they think about the needs of other people more and action is a result.
John 15:16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Jeremiah 29:13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. James 4:3 You ask but you do not receive because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts. What is asked for in the name of Jesus is not asked for because of lust.
Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Is it sufficient to hear the word of God twice a week? Deuteronomy 6:5-7 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart; you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
I Peter 3:7 Likewise you husbands, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

Frames of Mind and Prayer
I Peter 4:17 The time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God.
Five frames of mind keep Christians from praying and keep their prayers from being answered. They are Adamic, base, carnal, childish and haughty.
The Adamic frame of mind is the result of influences which have been passed down. Certain observations of conduct of grandparents, parents and other members of a person's society influence that person, and some influence comes through precepts.
The base frame of mind involves low self-esteem. Some of the sins which are the result of the base frame of mind are sexual perversions and some of them are eating disorders.
The carnal frame of mind produces the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
The childish frame of mind is displayed by pouting, whining and withdrawal.
The haughty frame of mind is arrogance.
Sometimes a sin is the result of more than one frame of mind.
Sexual perversions can keep Christians from praying and keep their prayers from being answered. That is true concerning both the perpetrators and the victims.
The pastor of a denominational church and his wife attended a district conference of pastors of their denomination, and took along their little daughter, who was raped by the man who was in charge of the conference. That resulted in the couple being very distraught. I'm sure that being distraught had effects on their prayer life. It can be very difficult to pray when distraught. Dwelling on what someone is distraught about keeps a person from praying, and time which would be spent praying about other matters is spent praying concerning what the Christian is distraught about. The pastor whose daughter was raped wondered whether he ought to quit being a pastor.
There used to be a youth ministry in Palm Springs called "House of Joshua." The founder and director of that ministry went to prison for child molesting, and House of Joshua ceased to exist. Certainly the base frame of mind of the director of that ministry prevented the answering of some of the prayers made by the director and his wife.
The carnal frame of mind keeps Christians from interceding and supplicating, and keeps their prayers from being answered. I John 2: 15&16 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. James 4:1-3 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. Gluttony, laziness, alcoholism, cigarette smoking and other drug addictions, sexual immorality and some occult activities are lust of the flesh sins.
A Christian eats too much and/or eats harmful artificial flavorings, becomes physically and mentally tired very quickly and becomes sick. The illness is sometimes a heart attack, appendicitis or some other critical ailment. Consequently, the Christian does not spend as much time in corporate prayer or private prayer as would be spent otherwise, and because of medical expenses gives much less money to the church and missions. Sometimes an illness which a Christian has because of wrongful eating causes that Christian to miss work so that his or her tithe is less, and because less money is given for use by the church for construction or maintenance of buildings, for purchases of video tapes and literature for youth meetings, for Sunday school, for women's ministry and for men's ministry so that Christian's prayers are not answered. Also, less time is spent ministering in other ways.
Laziness can cause a Christian to earn less money so that he or she gives less money for use by the church or missionaries, or sit and watch television instead of going over to the church or rescue mission to do what he or she has been called to do, so that some of that Christian's answered.
Money gambling is a lust of the flesh sin, a lust of the eyes sin and a pride of life sin. Some Christians gamble hoping to have more money to spend on things and/or activities. You can see how the lust of the eyes and the pride of life are involved. The lust of the eyes can get a Christian started in gambling. A Christian might want to do some sight-seeing at a casino, not planning to gamble, but start gambling on his or her first visit to the casino. Time and money are wasted. There is far more chance of losing money than there is of winning money.
A visit to a casino can keep Christians from praying and keep prayers from being answered other than through the loss of money.
Casinos are dens of demons, and Christians can take such home from them.
You can see how other lust of the flesh sins can keep a Christian from praying and keep prayers from being answered.
The lust of the eyes keeps Christians from praying and keeps their prayers from being answered.
Materialism, anorexia and wearing of improper shoes are sometimes lust of the eyes sins.
Too much time and too much money can be spent on houses, vehicles, furniture, appliances and other things so that failure to pray and failure to minister occur, and certain prayers are not answered.
The pride of life keeps Christians from praying and keeps their prayers from being answered. Some of it is trying to keep up with the Joness. Materialism, anorexia and wearing of improper shoes can be pride of life sins. Pride can cause a Christian to spend too much time and too much money on various things.
Boasting, strife, divisions and organizational positions competitions are pride of life sins. Time which ought to be spent praying (supplicating and/or interceding) is spent boasting, arguing and seeking of appointments to positions.
Resentments bring strife and divisions among Christians. They have occurred in churches and missions. Time which should be spent praying is spent musing about insults. Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Galatians 5:13-14 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Philippians 2:14&15 Do all things without murmuring and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. Many prayers are not answered because of strife.
The childish frame of mind keeps Christians from praying and prevents the answering of prayers. It causes separation from reality and responsibility, whining, pouting and poor relationships with other people. Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. Notice that it does not say, "with pouting let your requests be made known unto God" or "with whining let your requests be made known unto God." The childish frame of mind brings Whom would you rather attend a service or a prayer meeting with, whiners and pouters or people who give thanks? Read Psalm 133, Ecls. 4:9-12, Acts 2:42-47 and Acts 4:23-31.
The haughty frame of mind keeps Christians from praying and keeps their prayers from being answered. Proverbs 16:5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord. Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
The haughty frame of mind is arrogance, resentment and spite. It is possible for a Christian to resent something which associates--members of his or her church, relatives or people at school--do and later realize that those people acted properly. Read John 13:1-14. Read Matthew 11:2-6. Jesus was referring to resentment. John would be best off if he should not resent. Blessed is he who does not resent. Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place with who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." What does this verse reveal?
Sometimes failure to pray against yielding to temptation is arrogance. A Christian thinks that certain other people might be tempted to do a certain thing, but that he or she will never be tempted to commit that sin. What did Jesus say about this matter?
Matthew 18:2-4 And Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
One Sunday school teacher told another Sunday school teacher
about how much trouble she had when making a craft for her class. She said, “It made quite a mess, and I got the ingredients allover the kitchen," and the other teacher replied, "Well, I certainly never had any trouble with it. Didn't you follow the directions?" The teacher who had the trouble said, "Yes, but I still had problems," and the other one replied, "It always works for me, and I can't see why you had to spend money on this ready-made stuff. I've been making the homemade kind for years." That speech did not edify the teacher who had trouble with a craft.
I wonder whether the teacher who had a lot of trouble continued teaching. If the arrogant teacher prayed for there to be enough Sunday school teachers, her arrogant frame of mind opposed it.
It is very possible that the teacher who had much trouble with a craft was the better of the two teachers. The teacher who had trouble with the craft persevered. Would the Sunday school teacher who had never had trouble with a craft persevere if she should run into a difficult situation? One wonders whether the arrogant teacher sneered at one of the children once in a while. Children have the tendency to drop out of Sunday school. If the arrogant Sunday school teacher sneered at some of the children and prayed for the children not to drop out of Sunday school, her arrogant frame of mind opposed it.

If the enemy cannot prevent potential missionaries from going to the mission fields they try to prevent them from preaching the gospel on the mission fields, by various means. If the enemy cannot keep the missionaries from preaching the gospel, they try to prevent the natives from listening, by various means. If they are unable to keep the natives from listening to the preaching of the gospel, the enemy uses various tactics in the attempt to keep the natives from accepting Jesus. Prayer is vital all along the way.

Some missionaries have left the mission field because their parents were sick and needed those missionaries to return and take care of them. When praying for the missionaries of a particular mission field, you can pray that it will not be necessary for any of them to return to their countries because their parents are sick.
Pray for natives to be willing to listen to the preaching of the gospel, and pray for them to believe what they hear. Pray against procrastination, and pray for people to accept Jesus in spite of threats.
Pray for missionaries to not leave the mission fields through death or being told by a government to leave, and pray against them leaving because of being discouraged or because of illnesses.
Pray about the selection of missionaries. Pray for mission boards to be wise concerning which people to send to the mission fields. Pray against them sending people who are homosexuals and people who are mentally deranged.
Pray that, if certain missionaries are unfit to be missionaries, mission field directors and mission field councils will recognize that that is true. Some missionaries, because of their personalities, ought not to have been missionaries.
Pray for Christians to be prepared for various categories of ministries and to be placed in those ministries. Some possibilities are blind people evangelism, deaf people evangelism, prisoner evangelism, door to door evangelism, street meetings, drama, aviation, medical, leper colony, Bible school, dental, orphanage, waifs home, translation, mental hospital patient evangelism, elementary school, high school, radio and television.

We can pray for municipal courts, superior courts, appeals courts and supreme courts.
You must pray for judges, juries, and prosecution attorneys to understand criminal cases well. We can pray against people committing perjury, and for witnesses to have good memories. You can pray that, if witnesses give false testimony, that will be discovered, and they will be punished for doing that. Also, pray that if some criminals plead innocent by reason of insanity, the judge or jury will be wise concerning whether to find them guilty. Pray against people who are not guilty being found guilty, and for people who are guilty to be found guilty. Pray that courts will be wise concerning in which, cases to give prison sentences and in which cases to give the death penalty. You can pray that judges will be wise concerning lengths of prison terms.

Pray that, if a person files for redress of grievance and a jury decides to award them compensation, they will be wise concerning the amount. In some civil cases in which the victim is granted an award, the judge decides to impose a fine. You can pray that, if that is done, the judge will be wise concerning the amount of the fine.
